May 12th

This month at the Commercial Drive Legion

Come down to the legion for some great music, fun people, and drinks, to celebrate our new Community Night. Once a month we open up the Legion to your creativity, with live music, dj’s and performance artists. All the proceeds support the development of the Burn BC Arts Cooperative and some great projects and events we are planning. This month we have some great music to liven up the space.

He has also played gigs at Burning Man and in Australia. He plays clubs, parties, fundraisers, and outdoor festivals, and is also a fantastic fire breather.

Bombus

LuxeLand

LuxeLand are an indie duo, with Mark on guitar, bass and vocals and Michelle on drums, percussion and vocals. LuxeLand play songs that will make you tap your feet and nod your head. Maybe one or two familiar, but the rest new music to your ears.

Hell O’Clarice (gorelesque performance)

Hell O’Clarice has been dancing since she was a wee thing!
She loves to dress up and put on a show…such a glutton for attention, tsk, tsk!  Raised in the cold, dismal province of Alberta, much of her performance art is inspired by darker themes.  Hell is a chameleon; a pretty snake charmer one minute and a disturbed psychopath the next.  Don’t turn your back on this one!

March 17th – Post-mortem

Well,
That was fun.
It made for a good test run to work things out.

Attendance was light, there were three major community events that landed on the 17th. But we set a precedent working out many bugs and figuring out how this is all going to work.

One thing that worked very well last night is that we know we can make the Legion on Commercial Drive work, even on light attendance. This opens some creative doors for us, to encourage experimentation, and playful spontaneity.

Blackberry Wood played one of their best sets I’ve heard, and things got wild on stage with some spontaneously creative girls who showed us a thing or two about what it means to really rock the night.

Bombus played great music and kept things moving along very nicely, supporting the flow with some fun remixes. He made the night come together very well.

……………….

Overall, I think this is going to work well as a monthly event. As it grows and morphs, I’m looking forward to pranking our guests and making merriment to great music, and our community spirit.

Starting in May we’ll be offering the Second Saturday of every month as a Burn BC Monthly Night.

Thanks,
Napalm Dragon
